The crispy sound of aspen leaves in the wind is one of the first things you’ll hear on our Lake Helene Day hike. We’ll hike our way up the trail and hear the unique sounds of an aspen grove as we hike towards the Bierstadt Moraine. A steady climb along Flattop Mountain trail gets us back in the pines, with great views of Longs Peak. We’ll traverse through dense forest and open areas under Flattop, providing more stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Before walking along the shore of Two Rivers Lake, we’ll see Sourdough Campsite- an important waypoint for Go Wild backpacking trips hiking across the Continental Divide. Soon, we’re at Lake Helene- lunching at a slightly sub-alpine elevation with amazing views of three 12ers- Notchtop, Flattop and Ptarmigan. After some time to relax and take in the beauty of the Rockies, we’ll head back down the hill. Hiking with Go Wild and our crew of local guides gets you on the inside track to some amazing “secret” spots!
