If you want pure Rockies magic, but want to avoid the crowds, join Go Wild on this lesser known hike. The Lake Haiyaha Loop starts and finishes at the well-known trailheads of Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge, but we’ll spin off and see not 1, not 2, but 3 lakes- and maybe even 4- for the ambitious hikers. At Dream Lake, we’ll take a left along Lake Haiyaha Trail. Haiyaha is an Arapaho word meaning “lake of many rocks”, and when we arrive, we’ll see its aptly named. The lake is strewn with big boulders, crashing down a millennia ago from Chaos Canyon. The lake has a milky turquoise color due to glacial silt deposited via a recent landslide. Maybe we’ll get lucky and some fog will roll in, creating a unique and dramatic effect on the lake. We’ll lunch while viewing Hallett and Otis Peaks, and continue down to Alberta Falls before finishing at Glacier Gorge Trailhead. Hiking with Go Wild and our crew of local guides gets you on the inside track to some amazing “secret” spots!
